About the work (english)

About the work (english)

All of Kim Nayoung's works so far have been sculptures and all incorporate her runique ideas and approach. "Dog House" of 1996 for example, was a work designed in sympathy with a dog's view of what would make its life most comfortable. Kim has created a piece "the legend" from collected short tales told to her by artist friends and, in her "Warming up of an astronaut" project focused on the essence of daily life in outer space, Her work is often related to the idea of the function of visual information. In her oeuvre her throwing questions at society by producing works of art from a particular viewpoint - that of the industrial products of society.

In the exhibition of command N, Tokyo, Kim Nayoung shows her "Fun Picnic Bag" - a handy and original invention. When the bag is opened it converts into a picnic mat allowing you to lie on the grass, relax completely and eat your sandwiches or read your book or do whatever you like.

If the sun is too strong, the built - in sunshade will give you full protection - it may even come in useful in preventing others from seeing your face should you doze off, thus shielding you from the embarrassment of being seen asleep. This bag is just right for those usually unable to summon up the courage to go on a picnic.

Command N shop will release a limited number of special picnic bags this July. All were produced by Kim Nayoung herself in Paris just for the show and this will be the only place where the bags will be available.
